Our training

Culturally-sensitivity is at the heart of what we do. We help our carers in learning  new skills and developing existing skills while working to improving their specialist knowledge. We do this so that they’re able to care for the children and young people they look after as well as possible.

We encourage our carers to attend specialist training and support groups where they can develop their knowledge of different faiths and religions, and share cultural insights.

Our training sessions & workshops

Tools to foster is a course that is a must for all potential foster carers, as it provides real insight into fostering, like:

  • looking into key areas, eg what brings children into care
  • what legislation is used to ensure children are safe
  • recognising the behaviour indicating children may need additional professional help
  • confidentiality
  • diversity, inclusion and equality
  • attachment disorders
  • legislation
  • health and safety

On-going training & support

  • First aid
  • Promoting positive behaviours
  • Exploring values, discrimination and prejudice
  • Good record keeping
  • Safeguarding
  • Teamwork, communication and contact

These are only a few examples of the mandatory training courses that all Wholistic carers attend, equipping them with all they need to provide constructive, understanding and sympathetic care.
